Managing the BMC Linux data collector (bgscollect)

A BMC Linux data collector (the bgscollect program) resides on each monitored Linux image. Each bgscollect program gathers data from the monitored Linux image and provides the data to the Linux data server, which sends the data to the MainView for Linux — Servers PAS through the RTServer. The bgscollect program is started and stopped automatically by the Linux data server; see Starting the Linux data server.

Stopping the BMC Linux data collector (bgscollect) manually

The bgscollect program is controlled by the Linux data server. The bgscollect program automatically stops shortly after the Linux data server stops, unless another product is using the bgscollect program. If you must manually stop the bgscollect program, complete the following steps:

  1. Login to the Linux system as root.

    Warning

You may have other BMC products installed that use the BMC Linux data collector (the
    bgscollect program).

.Shutting down bgscollect will impact those products that are still using the program.

  2. From the Linux system, enter the following command:
    /usr/adm/best1_default/bgs/bin/MrStat -k
