Data set allocation
MainView for IP dynamically allocates Packet Trace data sets if the data sets are not pre-allocated. The product uses the defined name pattern for allocating the Packet Trace data sets. For more information, see Patterns-for-allocating-Trace-files.
If you pre-allocate Trace data sets, use the following table for the data set attributes.

To save Packet Traces upon recycle of the MainView for IP PAS, pre-allocate a data set with the following attributes:
- Organization: PS
- Record Format: VB
- Record Length: 27998
- Block Size: 32760
