Message format
This section describes the format of the messages you will see in MainView for IP.
The following is an example of a BMC message:
- All BMC Software messages begin with BMC.
- nnnnn is the BMC message number. This is a two to five digit number. You can look up additional information about the message on the BMC Documentation Center by searching for BMCnnnnn.
- X is the message severtiy code. message severity codes is a list of serverity codes, their description, and required user action.
- The information following the message number and severity code describes the reason for the message.

Code | Description | Action |

A | Action | Immediate action is required. |
E | Error | The function that you requested was not completed. Action is required. |
I | Information | This message is for information only. No action is required. |
R | Reply | You must reply to the message before the system can continue. |
S | Severe | A severe error occurred. Action is required. |
W | Warning | The system is still operating and no immediate action is required, further investigation is needed. |
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
