Region Loop Check view (IRGOLOPR)

The Region Loop Check view (IRGOLOPR) is where you can monitor IMS regions for potential loops. Additionally, when you have defined alarms using the Solution Profiles, the data collected by this view is used to trigger the alerts. 

The IRGOLOPR view shows the CPU percentage used for the previous five seconds. The view also shows the current DL/I and SQL call rate as well as the I/O rate. It will also show a row for the IMS CTL, DLISAS, DBRC, and IRLM address spaces, but for these only CPU% will be shown.

For IMS application regions (MPP, etc.), the view shows the name of the current transaction, program, and LTERM – provided that the same transaction or BMP was running in that region for the entire 5 seconds.

In addition, the IRGOLOPR view provides information that can help you manage and take actions for any detected looping regions.  With the view, you can monitor whether or not a STOP REGION ABDUMP is in progress, and if the region is in a U0113 window.

The U0113 window indicates that a STOP REGION ABDUMP is in progress and the region is in the middle of a DL/I call. If you cancel the region in this state, IMS stops with a U0113 abend. To avoid this, you can reset the WLM service class to quiesce the region.

If the view shows that the looping IMS region is not in a U0113 window, you can issue the STOP REGION CANCEL command.  This stops the IMS region with a U0474 abend, which terminates the application program.
