CMRDETL history views

History views display information about transactions executed during a user-defined time frame and context. The time frame can be anything from the last five minutes to a specific hour some days ago, as long as the data is in the CMRDETL data sets.

The context can be any MainView context. For each executed transaction, the data extractor records contain essential information such as the transaction’s date and time, response time, CPU usage, file I/O counts, and resource consumption. The extractor records can be displayed as is in history views, or be summarized into interval data and be displayed in interval history views.

The information displayed in history and interval history views can also be restricted to data matching user-defined selection criteria. The primary method for creating selection criteria is to use the CHISTORY dialog, which provides a streamlined method for quickly finding history records.

The extensive amount of historical data is organized in ways that make it easy to quickly locate the source of performance problems. Suspend times, for example, are broken into thirteen distinct measurements which, in turn, are further subdivided. Dispatch suspend time, to take one example, measures the amount of time a task waits for first dispatch, the amount of time spent waiting for Max Tasks, and the amount of time spent waiting for TCBs, among other things.

You can access the history views by entering CHISTORY or CHIST on the COMMAND line. You can also access them from the History Easy Menu ( EZCSHIST).
