Accessing from MainView Explorer


MainView Explorer is a client/server application that enables you to access BMC AMI Ops products from your desktop by using a web browser. You can start a MainView Explorer session for a BMC AMI Ops product as:

  • A signed Java applet within a web browser
  • A Java application from a local directory on your computer

Note

This section explains how to run MainView Explorer as a signed Java applet. For information about running it as a Java application from a local directory, see Using.

To access the product from MainView Explorer

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter the following URL: http://host:port
    In this URL entry:

    • Host is the IP address or name of the system on which the BMC AMI Ops host server is executing
    • Port is the value that was specified for the PORT parameter in the host server procedure

    Example

    The following examples show valid URLs:

    • http://bbcs:3940/
    • http://172.18.9.82:395
  3. If a Windows security prompt for BMC Software is displayed, click OK (or Yes).
  4. In the Logon dialog box, type your TSO user ID and the corresponding password and click OK.
