StopX37/II utilities

The following batch utility programs help you analyze, organize, and reorganize data:

  • The SMFX37A program reads SMF VSAM status records (type 64) and common address space work records (type30) to generate a report of the VSAM extend failures and the B37/D37/E37 abends that have occurred. This program can be used to quantify the amount of time that has been lost due to disk space problems.
  • The SMFX37B program reads and formats the SMF records that are produced by MainView SRM Allocation and then formats the records into a report. These records contain detailed information about the jobs that were intercepted for a recovery attempt. The report that is generated provides information about the successful attempts, as well as the jobs that MainView SRM Allocation failed to recover. The SMFX37B program can be used to determine why a job was allowed to abend.
  • The X37UTILC program provides a report that details the percentage of used and unused DASD space and the cost of DASD space. This report can be used to determine the costs and savings that are associated with a particular level of DASD utilization.
  • The X37REORG program is a dynamically started DFDSS copy utility that reorganizes a multivolume data set onto a single volume.
  • The REDUCEXT program is a user-written utility that reorganizes multivolume data sets onto a single volume.
