SPACSQTY—set primary and secondary space for data set (used with StopX37/II)

The SPACSQTY function sets primary and secondary space allocation values for non-VSAM and VSAM DASD data sets that are being created.

Exceptions for VSAM allocations are noted in the parameter explanations.

Primary and secondary space allocation values that are too high can prevent other jobs from allocating needed resources. Allocations that are too low require subsequent automated or manual processing to allocate more space to the data set.

SPACSQTY allows the data center to set requirements and limitations for data set size and to rigorously enforce those requirements. Application of predefined primary and secondary space allocations can be based on data set names, device types, assigned pools, size or maximum possible size, or any property that is allowed as a MainView SRM filter list parameter.
