Assigning storage groups and volumes to a policy

The STOGROUP and VOLUME statement parameters can be used in the SMPOOLxx member along with the POLICY parameter to assign storage groups and volumes to a policy.

Assigning volumes to a policy can be used for volumes that are temporary or that, for some reason, are not included in any pool, meaning they are not assigned to a policy.

As distributed, all storage groups are assigned to a default storage group policy.

The STOGROUP and VOLUME parameters are mutually exclusive from one another. The POLICY parameter is required when either of these parameters is used. The POLICY parameter is the only other parameter that can be used in combination with these parameters. INC or EXC statements should not follow a SET statement that uses these parameters. These parameters are used to assign a storage group or volume to a policy, not to define the volumes in a storage group.
