Summary section used with StopX37/II

This section of the report includes:

  • Total number of B37, D37, E37, and VSAM failures
  • Total CPU and elapse time lost for B37/D37/E37 abends
  • User supplied parameters for PEOPLE, COST, and CPU
  • Savings for the period provided by the SMF records used for reporting in terms of personnel time, personnel cost, and computer time cost
  • Projected annual savings in terms of personnel time, personnel cost, and computer time cost

A VSAM extend failure generates an IEC070I error and does not necessarily cause a job to end. The SMFX37A report considers a VSAM failure will primarily occur in a long-running task, such as CICS, DB2, and IMS. Therefore, the CPU and elapsed time for the job encountering a VSAM failure are not considered in quantifying the COMPUTER TIME COST in the report. VSAM failures are only included in the PERSONNEL TIME and PERSONNEL COST totals.
