Setting a schedule

You can create and modify the on-call schedule for each contact listed.

You can set a schedule for each contact listed in the contact list. First you set up a default schedule in the Standard On-Call pane (left). Then you enter any exceptions to the contact's default schedule in the appropriate date/time slots in the weekly schedule pane (right).

Before you begin

  • To create an on-call schedule for a contact, the contact must exist in MainView Middleware Monitor's contact list. See Adding a contact.
  • Have available the dates and times the contact is on-call on a regular basis (the contact's default schedule).
  • Have available any exceptions (for example, vacation time) to the default schedule for each contact.

To set a schedule

  1. Select the contact.
  2. Click on the week tab to show, side-by-side, the standard (default) on-call schedule and the schedule for a selected week.
  3. To set the default on-call schedule, click and drag to paint green into the time slots for appropriate days that this contact is regularly on-call. Click a green slot to make it inactive (white). The Contact on-call default schedule figure in Working with contacts shows that the selected contact is on-call for the day and time slots indicated in green. These on-call time slots are reflected, in gray, in all weekly-schedules on the right.
  4. To set an exception to the default schedule for a given contact:
    1. Select the contact.
    2. In the weekly schedule on the right, open the week in which the exception occurs.
    3. Click and drag in a white area to insert on-call time outside the default schedule.
    4. Click and drag in a gray area to change default on-call time to inactive red time. The Contact modified on-call schedule figure in Working with contacts shows the same contact is not on call for the red time slots in the displayed week. In addition, the same contact has added on-call time (green). Changes to the default schedule apply only to the displayed week.
  5. Select Scheduled Contact in the properties dialog box of the e-mail object. When Scheduled Contact is selected, MainView Middleware Monitor sends an e-mail to the on-call contacts when the e-mail object is actioned.
  6. Click Commit to save the changed schedule.
