Event rules and event rule templates

Creating rules one at a time for monitoring a large number of topics is repetitive and time-consuming. Templates provide a way to automatically generate rules based on similar triggers and actions.

You can use rules to create triggers that use multiple typed topics whereas you can only use one typed topic in a template. For example, if you wanted to fire an action when two separate queues meet certain conditions (for instance, both CurrentQDepths are greater than zero), you can create a trigger and then use that trigger within a rule.

Note

If you have an invalid event, you see an error message when you validate, commit or when you try to leave edit mode. Follow the suggestions in the error message to correct the problem.
