Using a command line FTP client

To use a command line FTP client

  1. Open a command line and enter ftp.
  2. Enter open remotehostname at the FTP prompt (ftp>), where remotehostname is either the host name or IP address of the remote system.
  3. Enter your user name and password for the remote system when prompted.
You should now be connected and in your home directory on the remote computer.
  4. Change your current working directory to the directory where the agent files reside. If necessary, create a directory to store the distributed files.
  5. To FTP the files, enter bin or ascii and use the commands put or mput to transfer the files.
