Getting started for users
Accessing the MVMM Launch Page
- Open a browser instance. For a list of supported browsers, see Minimum-hardware-and-software-requirements.
- Enter https://hostName:15004. In this URL:
- hostName is the host name or IP address of the device running the Application Service.
- portnumber are 15007 or 15004. These default ports used by the MVMM Application Service. Port 15004 is a secure port and Port 15007 isn't. Entering 15007 redirects you to port 15004 during login to ensure that passwords are transmitted securely.
The following figure displays the MVMM Launch Page.
The following UI features are available on the MVMM launch page:

Accessing and downloading all the components you need
The following steps describe the procedure you must follow to access and download all necessary components:
To access the Monitor Console, click Download Monitor Console Installer to install the standalone version of the Monitor Console, or click Launch Monitor Console to launch the legacy Java Web Start version of the Monitor Console. For further information about which version you should use, see Accessing-the-Monitor-Console.
After you are prompted to run the "Monitor Console" application, the Monitor Console login page is launched; enter your user name and password, which by default are:
- User name: SA
- Password: BMCSOFTWARE
For further information and troubleshooting, see Accessing-the-Monitor-Console.
To access MainView Middleware Administrator (MVMA) - via which you can manage queue managers, queues, and channels - launch Administrator Console from the Launch Page.
The MVMA window is launched in a new browser window/tab (note that in contrast to the Monitor Console, the MVMA User and Admin Consoles are web-based).
For further information on the functionality available in MVMA, see Working-with-queue-managers-queues-and-channels.
To download MVMM agents for distribution to the relevant computers, launch Agents and Extension Packages.
For more information about creating, modifying, downloading, and deploying agents and extensions, see Distributing-the-agent-and-extensions-packages-via-the-launch-page.
Introducing the various interfaces to MVMM
There are three main interfaces used in MVMM: the Monitor Console, MainView Middleware Administrator (MVMA) and a number of CLI tools.
For more information, see Accessing-and-navigating-the-MainView-Middleware-Monitor-interfaces.
Establishing monitoring policy
MVMM provides a set of out-of-the-box policies that contain general monitoring recommendations. For more information, see Getting-started-with-policies.
If you need further information on how to tweak and customize these policies, see Policies-and-Event-Packs-overview and Policy-architecture.
