Agent policies
To create an agent policy
- From the Policies tab, click the Agent Policies tab.
- Click the Create a New Agent Policy icon (be sure that Edit mode is active).
- In the displayed Create a New Agent Policy dialog box, add a name and description for the new policy, and click Create.
The right side of the Policies tab is refreshed with new sections, as shown in the following image.- Policy Components this Agent Policy uses are components that are assigned to the currently selected policy.
- Policy Components that use this Agent Policy are policy components associated with the currently selected component.
- You can optionally create or attach a schedule to the policy so that the policy is executed at specific times. If you do not attach a schedule the policy is evaluated when you click the Apply button OR when a new object is added or modified - this is the normal policy operation mode. Click Select alongside the Schedule field to select from an existing schedule, or create a new schedule. See Creating Schedules.
- In the Policy Components this Agent Policy uses section you can select from Expressions, Object policies, Policy groups, and Policy actions to select or create the policy components that is assigned to the policy. These components must be writable to be assigned to the policy, so read-only components do not appear in the selection list.
- Click
to test the agent policy without executing any actions. The Test Agent Policy Results window is displayed, where you can see any Policy Actions, Policy Conflicts or Validation Issues. Click Stop to stop the test, or wait for the test to complete.
- Click
to apply the policy to the matching objects and execute actions. The Test Agent Policy Results window is displayed, where you can see any Policy Actions, Policy Conflicts or Validation Issues. Click Stop to stop the policy continuing to run, or wait for the operation to complete. If you stop the operation, note that some of the actions might/might not have been executed.
- Click
to commit and save the agent policy.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
