Managing navigation trees
Creating and populating a navigation tree
You can create and edit your own navigation trees. With the appropriate permissions, you can modify navigation trees created by other users.
- Enter edit mode in the Operations tab.
- Right-click a tab at the bottom of the explorer and select Edit Navigation Tabs > Edit Tabs to open the Edit Navigation Tabs dialog box.
- Right-click in the Target Trees pane and select Tree > Create Navigation Tree.
- Name the navigation tree root.
- Right-click the new node and select as appropriate. The context menu options are self-explanatory and are listed for reference in Navigation tree context menu.
- Make new blank folders to create the required target tree organization. This can be done now and/or later. Name the new folders with names that reflect the contents of the folders.
- Drag physical and logical nodes and trees from the Source Trees pane to the Target Trees pane and drop as required. Note the following:
- When searching for a drop location, hover over any expandable node to expand it.
- Drag and drop any part of a source tree from the root down. MainView Middleware Monitor copies all the node tree properties and property values with the node tree.
- Drag and drop nodes and folders within the target tree.
- You can have more than one navigation node with the same name. To avoid mis-identification, we recommend you place similarly named nodes in separate, suitably named folders.
- Clone from other navigation tabs by opening the source tab using the tabs at the bottom of the source tree pane.
- When you drop a node into the target navigation tree a menu opens. Select as appropriate:
- Select Clone to clone the contents from the source into the target tree at the drop point.
- Select Move to drop the contents. Applies only to moving within the target tree itself.
- Select Cancel to reverse the drop.
- When done, click OK or Apply.
Changing target-tree node properties
- Right-click the node in the target tree and select Properties.
- Modify the property values as described in the Navigation tree context menu.
Securing navigation trees
Navigation tabs and trees can be locked to specific groups by an administrator Defining-user-access-and-security-settings.
