Installing the bootstrap package on Windows

Before you begin

To install the bootstrap package on Windows

  1. At the command prompt, set your working directory to the directory where the agent installation resides (agents in suggested directory layout).
  2. Verify that the MQS_HOME system environment variable has been configured (see Configuring the MQS_HOME system environment variable for the Default layout).
  3. Unzip the bootstrap package.
  4. Change to the agent directory.
  5. Copy QPTTAB.DAT to the directory that you defined for the MQS_HOME system environment variable.
This file is needed if any of your transactions must have their message format CCSID converted. If you are unsure if any of the message formats must be converted, you should still add this file to the system environment variable directory.
  6. Locate the executable program vcredis_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe and run vcredist_x86.exe on 32-bit hardware.
Run both on 64-bit hardware. This installs the Microsoft C++ redistributables.
  7. Run qpea --install to install the MVMM  Extensible Agent as a Windows service.
  8. To start the Agent, enter: qpea -–start
  9. Change to the bmmtm-agent\bin directory.
  10. Run agent --install to install the MVMM  Configuration Agent as a Windows service with the name MVMM  Configuration Agent.
  11. To start the Configuration Agent, enter: agent -–start
Note that the secure tunnel and service connection information were preconfigured in the bootstrap and the Extensible Agent should connect unless additional Secure Tunnel certificate configuration is required. See Post-core-component-installation-and-configuration for details.
  12. Using the Windows Service Manager, configure the MVMM  Extensible Agent and MVMM  Configuration Agent to start automatically when the computer is restarted.
