Installing the DataPower monitoring extension

This section describes how to install the MainView Middleware Monitor DataPower monitoring extension on Windows.

Before you begin

Ensure that the MainView Middleware Monitor agent and common JRE are installed in the <AGENT_INSTALL> directory. See Installing and configuring the JRE for further information.

If you have previously installed the DataPower extension from a release prior to 9.0 stop the older extension and rename the installation directory to keep as a backup.   You may copy the configuration/services/com.bmc.mmpa.ext.datapower.exteison.properties property file and any trust or key stores that may be used when installing the latest version.   You may have also customized the location of log files, JVM memory, etc. so keeping the existing installation will allow you to reference those changes and apply them to the new installation.

To install the DataPower monitoring extension on Windows

  1. Copy the DataPower extension archive pkg_bmmpa_datapower_jre_windows_x86_32.zip to the <AGENT_INSTALL> directory if it is not already present.
  2. Create a sub directory under <AGENT INSTALL> called "datapower" for the installation of the DataPower extension.

    mkdir <AGENT INSTALL>\datapower
  3. Unzip pkg_windows_datapower.zip into <AGENT INSTALL>\datapower:

    cd <AGENT INSTALL>\datapower
    ..\unzip.exe ..\pkg_windows_datapower.zip 

Installing the DataPower monitoring extension on UNIX

This topic describes how to install the MainView Middleware Monitor DataPower monitoring extension on UNIX.

Passwords can be base64 encoded and prepended with OBF: to obscure your passwords.

Before you begin

Ensure that the DataPower Device has been configured for monitoring by the DataPower Extension.

Ensure that the MainView Middleware Monitor agent and common JRE are installed in the <AGENT_INSTALL> directory. Refer to Installing and configuring the JRE for further information.

To install the DataPower monitoring extension on UNIX

  1. Copy the DataPower extension archive pkg_bmmpa_datapower_linux_x86_64.tar to the <AGENT_INSTALL>/datapower directory if it is not already present.
  2. Create a sub directory under <AGENT_INSTALL> called "datapower" for the installation of the DataPower extension.

    mkdir <AGENT_INSTALL>/datapower
  3. Un-tar the pkg_bmmpa_datapower_linux_x86_64.tar file into <AGENT_INSTALL>\datapower:

    cd <AGENT INSTALL>/datapower
    tar -xvf ../pkg_bmmpa_datapower_linux_x86_64.tar
