Creating an event template

  1. Enter edit mode and open Events> Templates tabs.
  2. Click New template and enter a name for the template.
  3. Select or create a trigger. See Creating a trigger.

A trigger used in a template can have a maximum of one typed topic input node, and not contain any topic input nodes.
  4. Select or create an action. See Creating an action.

Alert actions are unique with regards to event templates. Alert actions must be associated with a specific topic to be valid. If you create a rule using a template that contains an alert action, the topic path for the alert is derived from the typed topic input specified in the template trigger.
  5. (Optional) In the Clear Action section, select an action. If necessary, finish defining the action.
  6. Click Validate and Commit to save the event rule template.

You have now defined an event template. The new template appears in the Template tree. You must now associate it with your topics.
