Upgrading WebSphere MQ to a later version on Windows and UNIX

When upgrading from WebSphere MQ 6 or earlier you should uninstall the WebSphere MQ BTM Extension and re-install the correct version with the newer release of WebSphere MQ. Note that WebSphere MQ 6 is not supported with this release. Follow the uninstall directions but note the name of the extension is btmmq. Follow the install directions for the new release.

When upgrading from WebSphere MQ 7.0 you should uninstall the WebSphere MQ BTM Extension and re-install the correct version with the newer release of WebSphere MQ. The exit architecture changed from WebSphere MQ 7 to WebSphere MQ 7.1; while the WebSphere MQ 7.0 version of the exit might continue to work in some select configurations it is not recommended you continue using it. Follow the uninstall and install directions.
