Defining a password policy

MainView Middleware Monitorsupports a subset of the draft RFC Password Policy for LDAP Directories standard. 

Warning

IMPORTANT

BMC recommends you to use Active Directory to implement more complex password security policies as per your organization's password policy requirements.

The MVMM password policy is defined through configuration options in the [App_Service] section of the services.cfg configuration file. See [App_Service] for details of the password policy options available (the relevant keywords start with "pwd_"). Changes to the configuration options require that the MVMM Application Service is restarted before the changed password policy is applied. The SA and Service users are excluded from the password policy. The MVMM password policy is not enforced when Active Directory Delegate Mode security is used. In that configuration the password policy defined in Active Directory is used.
