Managing TIBCO EMS channels

Channels in TIBCO EMS are used to distribute multicast messages to multiple receivers simultaneously. This is a one-to-many messaging configuration as opposed to a one-to-one structure.

Multicast messaging is a messaging model that broadcasts messages to many consumers at one time, instead of sending copies of a message to subscribing consumers individually. Messages travel over a multicast channel. Each multicast-enabled topic is associated with a channel. The channel decides the multicast port and destination group address.

The producer places a message in a channel, and the consumer receives it either directly or through the assistance of listeners, etc.

Select Channel from the Navigation Panel to display the Channels Summary View.

Operations available:

  • Tag Channel: Add the channel to a tag.

To access the selected Channel's Properties Editor, click on the Channel Name.

Note

There is a View-only Properties Editor for individual channels.
