Viewing the Dashboard

The Dashboard presents a range of information about IBM MQ Queue Managers and their component channels and queues. This is status data that provides an overview of the state of several critical objects. Use the Dashboard view for statistical purposes only.

Important

Dashboard is not supported in MainView Middleware Administrator (Monitor Edition).

For more information, see a summary of the functionality differences between the full version of MainView Middleware Administrator and MainView Middleware Administrator (Monitor Edition).

A Product Administrator can use the information in the Dashboard to identify situations with potential and create an event rule accordingly. For instance, excessive queue capacity (above a certain percentage) could prompt a product administrator to create an event rule for the capacity. For more information, see Managing-events.

The Dashboard displays two views:

  • A view that represents a summary of all the Queue Manager connections. Access this Dashboard by selecting: projectName > All Queue Manager Connections > Dashboard
  • A view that represents a summary of a specific Queue Manager. Access this Dashboard by selecting: projectName > queueManagerName > Dashboard

The following Dashboard summarizes all the queue manager connections:

The following Dashboard for a specific Queue Manager, summarizes both the selected Queue Manager and the key related messaging objects. Information is presented both at the global (Queue Manager) level and for queue manager components.

Important

The Dashboard displays values that reflect the status when the last monitoring cycle was run for the related queue manager. For disabled connections, the Dashboard reflects the status before the affected connection was disabled unless there are other enabled connections used for monitoring the same queue manager.

Queue Manager snapshot details are descriptive of key parameters or properties. These are all in read-only mode, which is consistent with the statistical purpose of the Dashboard.

Data presented relates to queues, channels, and messages that operate within the Queue Manager. Summaries for both local and transmit (XMIT) queues illustrate queue efficiency, service state (for XMIT queues), and message statistics.

Channel statistics are brief, differentiating between active, retrying, and disabled channels.

Starting from MVMAFix Pack 9.1.00.D, for a single queue manager and for All Queue Manager Connections the MVMA Dashboard provide links to related views along with the values that are displayed in the links. This enables users to quickly navigate from the Dashboard to related views in MVMA to easily investigate issues identified from the Dashboard.
