Testing a new security model

You MUST add your User ID to the Product Administrators list (as explained in Changing-a-security-model), otherwise you will not be able to administer the product. You should add your User ID to the Product Administrators list after obtaining the product. If your application 'locks' after a change in security models, contact BMC Support.

After changing the security model, test that the change has been effected by checking the following:

  • Test that you can login using your LDAP/Active Directory credentials
  • Add your user ID to a project and give your user ID rights to the project.
  • Test that your user ID has the rights you assigned to the project.
  • Add a group to a project and give the group some rights to the project.
  • Test that a sample user in a group within your LDAP/AD configuration has the correct rights.

It is recommended to do these tests in isolation, adding unique users and groups and assigning rights that do not overlap and specifically testing those rights.

Important

Restart the MainView Middleware Administrator service after saving configuration changes.
