Before starting MVMA services

Important

Proper implementation of SSL certificates is required for being able to access MVMA services from any other host in the network after installation. MVMA installs its services with Server Name Indication (SNI) enabled using a self-signed certificate assigned to ‘localhost’. This restricts access to ‘localhost’, that is, MVMA can only be accessed using a browser on the MVMA installation system and using ‘localhost’ in the URLs for accessing MVMA through the browser. To make MVMA in your network available from any browser by using the original host name in the URLs, you must add a certificate assigned to the name of the host where MVMA was installed. See the following section on Implementing-SSL-certificates for the implementation of such a certificate.

To start the MVMA service on Windows

  1. Open Windows Service by selecting: Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Component Services.
  2.  In the Console Root window, select Services.
  3. Locate the MainView Middleware Administrator service.
  4. Start the service.

To start the MVMA service on Linux

Run the following commands:

cd <installdir>
./bin/admin --start

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
