User and Product Administrator roles

The User role

The middleware administrator takes on the role of "user" in MainView Middleware Administrator (MVMA). As a middleware administrator, you access middleware assets through projects that the Product Administrator configures. Projects are the means by which you manage IBM MQ queue managers or TIBCO EMS servers. Permissions assigned by the Product Administrator provide the actual access to project connections.

The User Console is the portal to all user functionality. All User Console functionality is directed towards administration of middleware assets in MVMA.

The Product Administrator role

The Product Administrator plans and implements the installation of MVMA, including license requirements.

The Product Administrator also configures and administers projects. A project exists in MVMA as a container for different components, from users and groups to the middleware connections that users manage. The project is a flexible workspace that lets you assign permissions (rights) to users and groups to work with those middleware connections that are IBM MQ queue managers and TIBCO EMS servers.

Product Administrators work in the Admin Console. While only Product Administrators can access the Admin Console, you can assign yourself user privileges and work as a user, managing specific connections within IBM MQ and TIBCO EMS.
