Refreshing view data in windows mode

The data displayed in a view is static. When you refresh the data in a view, new data is retrieved from the host and displayed in the view. Refreshing data in a view automatically refreshes the data in any alternate form of the view, such as a chart or detail view. You can refresh data manually, or automatically at a specified interval.

To manually refresh data in views

  1. Press Enter.

To automatically refresh data in views

  1. On a view's Command line, enter the ASU command and press Enter.

Data in the view is refreshed automatically.

By default, the rate is 15 seconds. Your site administrator might have changed this default. You can also change the rate for your individual use.

To set the automatic refresh rate

Use this procedure to set a refresh rate for your own use. This refresh rate is valid for your current system only.

  1. On the Command line, enter the following statement:
    ASU nnn

Replace nnn with the refresh rate that you want to use, in number of seconds (from 3 to 999, unless your site defines other values).

The default rate is 15 seconds, but can be altered by your site adminstrator.

To stop automatic data refresh

  1. From a view that is in auto-refresh mode, perform one of the following actions:

    • On a view's Command line, enter the ASU command and press Enter.
    • Press the ATTN or PA1 key as appropriate.

    Note

On some keyboards, you must press the RESET key to unlock the attention interrupt key. IBM defines the attention interrupt procedure and MainView uses the keys assigned by that procedure. TSO also uses those keys.
