Using the logon panels
The following logon panels are available:
Which panel or panels are displayed depends on what credentials you specified with the START command, LOGON command, or abbreviated logon command and what type of security you are using, password, passphrase, or IBM Multi-Factor Authentication for z/OS (IBM MFA).
Using the User ID panel
The User ID panel is displayed under the following conditions:
- The START, LOGON, or abbreviated logon command was issued.
- The userID parameter was not specified.
- A user ID is required.
To specify a user ID
On the User ID panel, type your user ID.

If you press End rather than Enter, the following message is displayed and the terminal logon screen is displayed:

Using the password panel
The password panel is displayed under the following conditions:
- The START, LOGON, or abbreviated logon command was issued.
- The password parameter was not specified or an incorrect password was specified.
- A password is required for the specified user ID.
If you are using IBM MFA, see Using the MFA password panel.
To specify a password
On the password panel, in the Password field, type your password.

Using the MFA password panel
The MFA panel is displayed under the following conditions:
- The START, LOGON, or abbreviated logon command was issued.
- The password parameter was not specified.
- IBM MFA or a passphrase is required for the specified user ID.
To specify MFA credentials or a passphrase
On the MFA password panel, in the Password field, type your password.

If this is the first time you are logging on or your system administrator is requiring a new PIN, the MFA Factor panel is displayed.
If you pressed End rather than Enter, the following message appears and the logon screen is displayed:

To change your password
- On the password or MFA password panel, in the New Password field, type your new password.The password value is not displayed when you type it and can be one to eight alphanumeric characters.
- Press Enter.A message is displayed, prompting you to re-enter your new password for verification.
- Retype your new password value.
- Press Enter again.Your new password is now active.
