Understanding MainView Logger
MainView Logger
is a stand-alone logging facility that provides any BMC product or
MainView Infrastructure
a way to log important messages or events in a centralized repository.
The MainView Logger agent runs within the BMC Execution Component for z/OS (DBC) subsystem address space. For more information about the DBC address space, see Working-with-BMC-Execution-Component-for-z-OS-DBC. The MainView Logger agent manages the logspace and provides connections that supply MainView Logger functionality.
Securing MainView Logger
There are no additional security considerations for the MainView Logger because it runs as a service in the DBC address space. The DBC address space on each system requires ALTER access to the logset data sets that MainView products write their messages to, just as it requires ALTER access to logset data sets for other products. End-users and MainView started tasks do not directly access the MainView Logger logset data sets so there are no additional security considerations.
For more information, see DBC-security.
