Starting and stopping the MainView host server
The MainView Host Server is a mainframe started task that provides access to MainView product data. You can view data in real-time using MainView Explorer (MVE), or export data to a file and view it offline using MVE Viewer. For more information, see MainView-Explorer and Overview-of-the-MVE-Viewer.
The MainView Host Server runs as an address space on IBM z/OS systems with a running CAS and communicates with MVE client applications using TCP/IP. When an MVE client requests information:
- The host server sends the request to the connected CAS.
- The CAS collects the information from the appropriate PAS.
- The CAS sends the information back to the host server.
- The host server then forwards the information to the client.
Multiple host servers can run in a system and communicate with the same or different CASs. The following topics describe how to start and stop the MainView Host Server.
