General Configuration

The CCS/MVCM product supports connections to various types of Telnet servers including Visara SCON controllers, IBM OSA adapters and Unix/Linux servers. The Controller Type, Upstream IP, and Default Port settings are used to specify connection information for CCS sessions.

Controller Type (required)

Select the Visara controller type for connections to Visara SCON controllers, select the OSA controller type for all other connections including IBM OSA adapters, IBM 2074 controllers and Unix/Linux servers.

Upstream IP (required)

The network address of the telnet server that CCS sessions will connect to. The address should be specified in numeric format - 192.168.2.1, for example - unless valid domain name servers are set in the MVCM networking configuration in which case the address may be the host name of the telnet server.

Default Port (optional)

The port number on the telnet server that CCS sessions will connect to. This value only affects the port value set when you add a new session, it does not change the port values of existing sessions. Use the Session Configuration page to change the value for individual sessions.

This field defaults to the standard port 23 used by mainframe and Unix/Linux telnet servers. Other servers may require a different value, particularly Visara SCON controllers and IBM 2074 controllers:

  • Visara SCON controllers are often configured with a different port for each mainframe session requiring you to set the port value for each session using the Session Configuration page
  • IBM 2074 controllers customarily use ports 3270 and 3271

Startup

CCS server startup may be set to one of three modes:

  • Automatic. The server will be started whenever the MVCM unit is powered on. You may manually stop the running server using the main Console Servers page.
  • Manual. The server will not start when the MVCM unit is powered on. You may manually start the server using the main Console Servers page.
  • Disabled. The server will not start when the MVCM unit is powered on and cannot be started using the main Console Servers page.
