Edit CCS Server
This section describes how to edit the CCS servers.
- General-Configuration The CCS/MVCM product supports connections to various types of Telnet servers including Visara SCON controllers, IBM OSA adapters and Unix/Linux servers. The Controller Type, Upstream IP, and Default Port settings are used to specify connection information for CCS sessions.
- Session-Management The Session Management page allows you to view, modify or delete existing console sessions and add new ones. Lists in alphabetical order the defined console sessions controlled by this Console Consolidation server.
- Session-Scripting The Session Scripting page describes the session scripting language Each command begins with a command verb followed by zero or more arguments and/or modifiers that vary for each command. Any optional modifiers are indicated by square brackets, the actual modifier keywords must be surrounded with periods. All row and column values start with one. The valid scripting commands are listed below.
- Client-Access CCS servers support connections from proprietary BMC Software clients (including SmartClient servers) and also third-party TN3270E emulators. The Client Access page allows you to define which client access methods are used and which port number or numbers or used for client connections.
- Logging-Configuration The Logging Configuration page allows you to control and view server logging in the form of an operational log and an optional command auditing log. The operational log includes message about server initialization, console session startup, client connection and disconnection and any errors experienced while the server is running. This log is the usual starting point in diagnosing problems.
- User-Authentication Operators wishing to view CCS console sessions are required to authenticate themselves before being permitted to connect to the desired session; the authentication may be done using either a local user database maintained using the MVCM web configuration or by a customer-supplied external authentication program allowing you to validate users against external databases such as RACF on your mainframe. The User Authentication page allows you to define which authentication method will be used.
- Connectivity The Connectivity page allows you to test the network connectivity to your console controller before you start up the CCS server. This allows you to build confidence in your CCS Session configuration without having to actually run the CCS server.
