Groups

The Groups page lists user groups that have been created for resource access purposes. The use of groups is optional, if you have a relatively small number of users you may configure access entirely on a per-user basis.

The table lists the currently defined groups each with an Access All Resources check box and Edit, Copy and Delete buttons.

New Group

Click the New Group button to pop up a new Edit Group window to create another Group.

Group

The group name.

Access All Resources

Checking this option quickly enables group members to access all resources overriding any specific group and user configuration settings.

Edit

Opens the Edit Group window for you to view and make changes to the selected group.

Copy

Copies the settings for the selected group into a new Edit Group window; the new group is not created unless you click Save in the editor window.

Delete

Deletes the group. You will be prompted to confirm your request before the group is actually deleted from the list.

Import LDAP Groups

Imports groups form an LDAP or Active Directory server. This option will display a wizard that prompts for a server URI, Base DN, Search Filter, Name Attribute and Description Attribute. The connection credentials are taken from the LDAP/Active Directory configuration on the General settings page. If DNS SRV Lookup is configured, the LDAP Server field must be entered, otherwise a selection of the configured LDAP servers is displayed.

The Connect DN and Connect Password fields are obtained from the selected server's configuration. In some instances, the Connect DN may be empty in the configuration. When the Connect DN is empty in the configuration, one must be specified here along with the Connect Password.

After entering the information, clicking the Next button will perform the search and display the matching entries with check boxes that control which groups should be imported. Clicking Import will create the groups in the Console Management user database. At this point, resources may be associated with the groups.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
