General Settings - System Information
The General Settings - System Information pages allow an administrator access to information about the operational status of the server and to configure some basic settings for it. Click on one of the tabs at the top of the page to go to a specific area. The System Information tab provides some general statistical information about the current state of the unit in terms of disk and memory usage and the set of active processes.
- System-information The following topics describe the system information.
- Certificate-Management The following topics describe certificate management.
- Administrator-Accounts Administrator accounts are used to authorize users to login into the configuration pages to configure and control BMC MainView Console Management. These accounts are stored locally on the MVCM server and are independent of the user accounts defined in the Authentication Server pages for operators to use the MVCM applications that interact with the mainframe.
- Access-Control The General Settings - Access Control page allows you to control what components of the web interface may be accessed by ordinary users.
- Install-History The General Settings - Install History page allows an administrator to install patches and add-ons for MVCM software. It is strongly recommended that you use the Saved Configurations page to backup the current configuration as a precaution before installing software.
- Database-Clustering Database Clustering is a mechanism that allows MainView Console Management configuration information to be replicated across two or more computers, thereby sharing the configuration and keeping it in sync. Each computer in the cluster has a complete replica of the configuration database. Changes to the configuration are automatically replicated to all other computers in the cluster automatically.
- Authentication-Server The MVCM Authentication Server validates requests from other MVCM services for user access to resources such as consoles. The server may be stopped and started from this page and a tabbed interface allows you to configure the many options available.
- License-Key Various MVCM components are licensed products and require that one or more license keys be obtained from BMC Software. There is legacy support for licensing at the individual console server level but this has been replaced by the MVCM License Manager which is administered here.
- Saved-Configurations The Saved Configurations web pages allow you to create and manage backups of configuration information for the various types of servers used in an operational MVCM system. These backups may be downloaded to and uploaded from your desktop computer; we highly recommend that you make use of this feature any time you have made and tested changes to your MVCM configuration in order to facilitate restoring operations in case your MVCM system needs to be replaced because of hardware failure.
- Shutdown-and-Restart The System Shutdown page allows you to safely shut down the computer running MVCM and either power it off or restart it.
- Logout The Logout link immediately logs you off from the administration pages and returns to the initial MVCM web configuration page.
