Syslog Configuration

The Unix Syslog listener captures messages and routes them through the MVCA rules. The messages are sent to the MVCA viewer and sent to the appropriate terminal emulator. The Syslog viewers will connect back the original host which supplied the message using Secure Shell (SSH), Telnet, and Web browsers.

The viewer options are configurable for (SSH) authentication. The default username and password, however, users are able to choose to use the key exchange or keyboard interactive option.

Note

Unencrypted Syslog messages using TCP and UDP transports will be supported by the viewer.

The Syslog adapter supports the following viewers:

  • ASCII Telnet
  • SSH
  • Web browser

To configure the Syslog listener click the check-box in the General tab. Enter the port number you want to listener to in the Syslog Listener Configuration window. In the Syslog Source tab, click Add, in the Syslog Source window enter the IP address and Viewer Type, then click Save.

Note

Addresses can be entered as a single IP address or host name. Also you can enter a range of addresses, or comma seperated list of host names.
