extended common service area (ECSA)1

A major element of IBM MVS/ESA ^™ virtual storage above the 16MB line. This area contains pageable system data areas that are addressable by all active virtual storage address spaces. It duplicates the common system area (CSA), which exists below the 16MB line. See also common-service-area-CSA-1.
