How to locate candidates
After you have determined what constitutes a good candidate in your environment, locate the entities that match those criteria.
There are two primary ways of gathering this information.
- You can use the MainView Batch Optimizer Candidate Utility. By using SMF data, this utility provides estimated elapsed time savings for jobs or data sets. The MainView Batch Optimizer Candidate Utility is available from the MainView Batch Optimizer product support page.
- You can use an in-house or OEM utility (such as SAS or MXG) to process SMF data. By setting up such a utility to filter and report entities matching your criteria for good candidates, you can create a valuable tool customized to your site’s specific needs.
