Deploying object and calendar definition base changes

The Definition Base deployment feature helps you easily manage changes to your object and calendar definition bases. You can access this feature from the TDEFBS view and with the MAMEXPRT utility.

The Definition Base deployment feature allows you to make changes to your definition bases from a central TOMPLEX and deploy the changes to the local or remote TOMPLEXs. At the target TOMPLEX, you can specify that changes are applied to a definition base. This action does not disrupt operations for the active definition base. Use this feature when you need to implement changes to the definition base without changing the status of all of the existing objects.

To deploy changes from a definition base from the TDEFBS view

  1. On the TDEFBS view, use the Tag line command next to the name of the definition base you want to deploy.
  2. Type the DEPLOY command at the COMMAND line and press ENTER.The DefBase Deployment dialog is displayed where you can enter the name of the definition base and a sysplex that you want to deploy changes to.
  3. To specify the currently active definition base at the target TOMPLEX, leave the Target Definition Base and Target Definition Base Sysplex fields blank. When you leave these fields blank, the deployment occurs in the currently active definition base on the local TOM.
  4. Type the name of another target definition base that is on a local (or remote TOMPLEX) where you want to deploy the definition base.
  5. After completing the fields in the DefBase Deployment dialog, enter the DEPLOY primary command on the COMMAND line and press ENTER.
