Issuing commands that are longer than the Command line
In MainView, you can issue different types of commands from panels within a BBI2 terminal session. However, the Command line restricts command length to about 47 characters. Many IBM MQ commands and some IMS commands exceed that limit. Use the Command Execution application to enter longer commands.
To enter long commands via Command Execution
On the Command line of the Command Execution application, type the characters associated with the command type (Table 1) followed by a blank, and press Enter.

The Command Execution panel is displayed. The top line shows the maximum command length allowed, based on the type of command you are entering.
You can perform the following actions on this panel:
In the Command field, enter the command that you want to issue.
- In the TGT field, enter a target name to execute the command on a different BBI-SS PAS.
If you want to view command results, enter LOG on the Command line.
When you enter commands that return a response (such as certain MVS or IMS commands), those responses are returned to the local log and will not appear in the BBI Journal.
When you type other application names on the Command line and return to this panel, the command you last used will appear on the panel.
Figure 1 describes the command characters, the command type and the allowed length for the command that you can enter on the Command Execution panel.
