How do sysplex variables communicate with the sysplex

Sysplex variables are stored in a coupling facility structure and the name of this structure is (by default) derived from the AOAnywhere XCF group name.

AOAnywhere commands can be issued to the same group of MainView AutoOPERATOR subsystems that share the same sysplex variables.

XCF communications (or signaling) allows members of an XCF group to communicate with each other. Signaling is implemented by using channels or coupling facility structures or a combination of both.

The hardware coupling facility is an LPAR that runs the coupling facility control code (CFCC operating system). The hardware coupling facility provides XES (cross-system extended services) data sharing.

Sysplex variables use a coupling facility structures (XES data sharing) as a central store. Sysplex variables do not use XCF communications or signaling.

For more information about the coupling facility requirements, refer to the chapter 'Implementing support for sysplex variables' in the MainView AutoOPERATOR Customization Guide.

Note

Your site might have preexisting solutions that allows your automation to synchronize variables across more than one sysplex; MainView AutoOPERATOR version 7.1.xx sysplex variables cannot be used to synchronize variables across more than one sysplex.
