Invoking REXX EXECs from outside of MainView AutoOPERATOR with IMFSUBEX

EXECs can be scheduled from any job running on a processor with a local BBI-SS PAS address space or from a remote processor.

This process can be useful to signal an event, such as the completion of an SMF Dump job running in the background. An EXEC can be scheduled from a batch program running as a separate job step or from a callable subroutine within another job or from TSO.

Use the MainView AutoOPERATOR-supplied program called IMFSUBEX to submit these kinds of EXECs. Keyword parameters passed to IMFSUBEX must specify

  • a local BBI-SS PAS Address Space ID (ASID) or an asterisk (*)
  • the name of the EXEC to be scheduled
  • any operands to be passed to the EXEC
  • (optionally) a different target

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
