Displaying details about all LPARs

Use the following procedure to display the CPCLPARS view, which shows information about all of the LPARs on CPCs across your enterprise. To help you determine which LPARs to include in a particular policy, CPCLPARS displays details about LPARs and the CPCs to which they belong. You can see the following information for each LPAR:

  • LPAR name
  • Sysplex name
  • Capacity group name
  • CPCID and CPC name
  • Peak 4HRA
  • Defined capacity of an LPAR or group capacity limit
  • Partition weight statistics
  • Whether the LPAR is active
  • Whether the LPAR has partition capping
  • Whether the LPAR is managed by the active policy

To view details about all CPCs and their LPARs

Use one of the following methods:

  • On EZICAP, select CPCs and LPARs.
  • Type CPCLPARS on the COMMAND line and press Enter.
The CPCLPARS view displays as shown in the following figure:

The following table describes the fields:

Field

Description

Name

Name of the LPAR or capacity group

Sysplex Name

Name of the sysplex to which the LPAR or group is connected

4HRA

The CPU consumption, measured in MSUs

4HRA is calculated by the RMF using the last 48 5-minute buckets and written into the type 70 record of the z/OS image in which the RMF is running.

Peak 4HRA

Highest value of the 4HRA on the LPAR

Partition Current Wt

The initial weight that the PR/SM(tm) dispatcher assigned to the partition. When the LPAR has only dedicated CPUs, this field shows "DED."

CPCID

The last five digits of the serial number of the CPC

CPC Name

Name of the CPC on which the LPAR is running

System Name

Name of the system running on the LPAR or group

Note

If the System Name field is blank, the LPAR is running without an active agent.

Group Name

Name of the LPAR's capacity group

DefCap or GCL

The defined capacity of an LPAR, or the group capacity limit

LPAR in Policy

Whether the LPAR or group is managed by the active policy

Active PAS?

Whether an active master or agent PAS is running on the LPAR

Cap%

Percentage of time that the LPAR or group was capped in the last 1 minute sample

LPAR Status

Status of the LPAR or group

Possible vales are:

  • OK
  • Warn

A warning status indicates that one of the following conditions exists:

    • The LPAR or group is missing (is not found in the DIAGNOSE buffer).
    • The LPAR is not active, or at least one LPAR member of a group is not active.
  • Error

An error status indicates that one of the following conditions exists:

    • The LPAR is running without an agent, or at least one LPAR member of a group is running without an agent.

      Note

For an LPAR, the value of the # of Agents field is 0. For a group, the value is less than the # Members. To view information about the LPAR members in the group, hyperlink on the # Members field for a group to access the GRPMEM view. Use the Status column on GRPMEM to identify any LPARs that are running without agents.

    • The LPAR or group is hard capped.
    • Wait completion is enabled on the LPAR.
    • The LPAR uses dedicated processors.

Container 4HRA

4HRA for the container MSUs consumed by an LPAR or capacity group
