Specifying the context for master and agent PASs

If you intend to run iCap across multiple CPCs in a CMP environment, you must specify the context for the master and agent PASs that you want iCap to manage.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that PTF BQY1794 is applied.
  • Verify that you created the JCL for starting an iCap master and agent PASs. You should have created this JCL during customization, as instructed in Customizing after installation. For an example of the JCL, see Generated JCL examples.

Warning

Note

iCap does not support running version 2.0 agents in a CMP environment.

To specify the context for a PAS

  1.  Specify the CON=value JCL parameter for all master and agent PASs that are running on LPARs that you want iCap to manage.

    Notes

    Observe the following guidelines:

    • value must be five characters long.
    • If your master PAS and agent PASs have the same CON=value, iCap considers them as one CMP.
    • You cannot specify the same CON=value for multiple master PASs.
    • The CON parameter is valid only for version 3.0 agents.
    • The default value for CON= is the ID of the CPC on which the master or agent PAS is running. If you want to manage multiple CPCs, do not use the default value. You must specify a value for CON=.
