Performing an orderly shutdown before IPL

Orderly shutdown of DATA ACCELERATOR Compression requires you to stop the BCSS, CAS, and BMCP on each CPU running the product.

Warning

Issuing the these commands affects other BMC Software products in your system that use BCSS.

To perform an orderly shutdown

  1. (optional) Issue the bcssid DAC FAILSOFT OFF command to disable Failsoft processing.

    Warning

Turn the Failsoft option off only when you do not expect compression and expansion activity. Data is not expanded when the Failsoft option is off and either a REGISET fails or the BCSS shuts down. Compressed data will reach application programs.

  2. Issue the bcssid CAS STOP ALL command to terminate all CASs.
  3. Issue the bcssid SHUTDOWN command to terminate BCSS processing.
  4. Issue the bmcpid SHUTDOWN command to terminate BMCP processing.
