Cost Variance by Billing Month quadrant
The Cost Variance by Billing Month quadrant contains a bar chart that displays the cost difference between the budgeted amount and actual or projected cost for every billing month of the contract.
The following figure shows a sample Cost Variance by Billing Month chart.
The following table describes the elements of the chart.
Chart Element | Description |

Actual cost difference of the billing month | |
Projected cost difference of the billing month | |
Green Bar | Indicates the actual or projected cost was less than the budgeted cost for the billing month |
Red Bar | Indicates the actual or projected cost was greater than the budgeted cost for the billing month |
You can hover the mouse over any point or bar on the chart to view the date it occurred.
The toggle dots () of the quadrant provide you with the ability to toggle between the following chart views:
- Cost Variance by Billing Month
- Cost Variance to Date
You can also use the Options button () to change the display of the chart as follows:
- Single period view
- Stacked period view

Hyperlinks to the Monthly Summary Report
Each bar of the chart (whether solid or striped) is a hyperlink to the Monthly Summary Report for that billing month. By clicking on the bar, Cost Analyzer opens the Monthly Reporting tool and generates the Monthly Summary Report for that billing month.
