Cross-System Data Server Performance screen

The XDSP screen displays statistics about the Cross-System Data Server buffer and the usage of Cross-system Data Server callable services.

The upper portion of the screen displays statistics about the Cross-System Data Server buffer. This portion can assist you in determining the optimal size of the buffer.

The lower portion displays statistics about the Cross-System Data Server callable services.

Note

This screen is available only in the CMFMON Online facility. There is no CMFMON batch report equivalent.

The following table lists the header, ID (used when specifying keywords), and a brief description of each column on this screen.

Column header

Column ID

Description

Cross-system Buffer Statistics

Report Start

not applicable

date and time when the XDS buffer was initialized

Duration

not applicable

length of time the XDS buffer has been active

The format of this field is HHH:MM:SS.

Record Source

not applicable

source of the records in the XDS buffer

The SMF records can be passed to the XDS buffer from:

  • CMF—directly from CMF
  • SMF—from SMF dynamic exits or CMF&SMF
  • CMF&SMF—both CMF and SMF

Buffer Size

not applicable

size of the XDS buffer in megabytes (M) or kilobytes (K)

% Full

not applicable

percentage of XDS buffer storage occupied by data

Note

SMF records are stored in the buffer in compressed format. As a result, the percentage value is less than the total length of records in the buffer divided by the buffer size.

Records Received

not applicable

number of records that have been received by the XDS buffer

Records Rate (/H)

not applicable

arrival rate in records per hour into the XDS buffer

If the XDS buffer has been active for less than an hour, this value is estimated.

Avg Queue Time (ms)

not applicable

average number of milliseconds a record is queued before being stored into the XDS buffer

Avg Rec Length

not applicable

average length of the records received

Tot Recs in Buff

not applicable

total number of records currently in the XDS buffer

You can use the XDSA screen to display the type, subtype, and count of the records currently residing in the XDS buffer.

Buffer Wrap Time

not applicable

amount of time it took the buffer to reach 100% full, causing a wrapping of records in the buffer, in the format of dddD hh:mm.

This value is estimated if the buffer has not wrapped yet; in this case, an E is appended to the time.

Cross-System Callable Services Performance Statistics

Report Start

date and time when the Cross-System Data Server was started

Duration

length of time the Cross-System Data Server has been active

The format of this field is HHH:MM:SS.

The following fields describe the invocations of the cross-system data services orginating from the system that is specified in the SYSTEM field.

SERVICE NAME

SERVICE

name of the Cross-System Data Server services:

  • CX10XDQY

queries buffered SMF data throughout the sysplex for any SMF record types

  • CX10XDRC

requests buffered SMF data from the sysplex based on the results from the CX10XDQY query

  • CX10XDGS

requests snapshot data throughout the sysplex using SMF type 79 records

REQUESTS RECEIVED

REQRECVD

number of requests received

In DELTA mode, this field shows the number of requests received from the time of the last Enter

REQUEST RATE

REQRATE

rate of requests received per hour

If XDS has been active for less than an hour or DELTA mode is on, this value is estimated

AVG SRV TIME (MS)

AVSVCTM

average response time in milliseconds required to process a request

In DELTA mode, this value is the average response time for the requests received from the time of the last Enter.

AVG SYS PER REQ

AVSYSRQ

average number of systems processed per request

In DELTA mode, this value is calculated for the requests received from the time of the last Enter.

AVG DATA AMT PER REQ

AVDTREQ

average amount of data returned per request

In DELTA mode, this value is the average amount of data returned per request from the time of the last Enter.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
