Generating CMFMON Historical Data reports
CMFMON is able to read the SMF 79 records available in an input data set, process them, and generate reports similar to the CMFMON batch reports. These reports, called CMFMON Historical Data reports, are presented in the form of screens that are similar to the screens in CMFMON Online.
Overview
CMFMON Historical Data reports merge the most desirable qualities of the CMFMON online facility reports and CMFMON batch reports. They add the historical feature of batch reports (which are one-time reports) to CMFMON online functionality (which is interactive and allows you to make immediate changes within a report).
With the Historical Data reports, you can get specifics about a particular job or device easily by drilling down in a report.
The following CMFMON Online screen interface features are available with the Historical Data reports:
- displaying the delta fields
- zooming in on a particular job
- placing/removing a filter on a field
- sorting the screen by a single field
- including/excluding fields on the screen
- repositioning fields
- locating a particular job or device
- scrolling up and down
- accessing Help for the screens
- exporting the data to a data set
In addition, Historical Data reports offer this additional functionality:
- Time navigation commands
- You can overtype Date and Time fields to navigate to a particular point in time.
- You can type NEXT to display a report with data from the next record.
- You can type PREV to display a report with data from the previous record.
Delta and Total mode commands
These commands are inherited from the CMFMON online facility.
- In Delta mode, fields display the difference in values between the current and previous record.
- In Total mode, fields display the cumulative value of records up until the current record.
