CHANNEL (Report control statements)

The CHANNEL control statement requests the Channel Path Activity Report.

CHANNEL
[ZERO={YES|NO}]
[TYPEDESC={YES|NO}]

If the Extractor data contains records from a system that has ESCON Multiple Image Facility (EMIF) support, the Channel Path Activity Report contains different fields that report on EMIF.

The CHANNEL statement uses data collected by the CHANNEL Extractor control statement.

Parameters

The parameters for the CHANNEL control statement are as follows:

ZERO=

controls whether channel paths with no activity during the reporting period are included in the report

The default is ZERO=YES, which includes all channel paths in the report, even those that were 0% busy.

When ZERO=NO is defined, channel paths with 0% busy are omitted from the report. All channel paths with busy activity are reported.

TYPEDESC=

controls whether the Channel Type Descriptions are printed on the Channel Path Activity Report

When TYPEDESC=YES is defined, the Channel Path Type Descriptions are to be printed on the report.

When the default TYPEDESC=NO is defined, the Channel Path Type Descriptions are not to be printed on the report.

Examples

The following examples illustrate the use of the CHANNEL control statement.

Example
CHANNEL

The Channel Path Activity Report is produced and includes all channel paths, even those with no activity during the reporting period, because ZERO=YES is the default parameter.

Example
CHANNEL  ZERO=NO

The Channel Path Activity Report is produced and includes only channel paths that had activity during the reporting period. Inactive channel paths are not reported because of the ZERO=NO parameter.
