Specifying JCL and other operational defaults

In customization tasks that involve data set allocations, BMC II for z/OS prompts you to specify the volume serial ID (VOLSER) and UNIT name. In other tasks, you must supply the high-level qualifier (hlq) for the product libraries.

To prepare for these tasks, make a record of the VOLSER and UNIT name for the product libraries, along with the following information:

Prompt

Description

Prefix ===>

High-level qualifier for product libraries

Unit-T ===>

Generic UNIT name for temporary data sets

Unit-P ===>

Generic UNIT name for permanent data sets

VOLSER ===>

VOLSER for permanent data sets

SYSID ===>

System image ID (not to exceed eight characters)

The SYSID value is used to build names for data sets that cannot be shared across multiple systems. In all places where hlq is referenced, this value is the prefix value for your BMC II for z/OS libraries and the SYSID value.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
