This topic describes the upgrade and migration procedure for BMC AMI Ops User Interface and the following associated components:

  • BMC AMI Ops Analytics Datastore
  • BMC AMI Ops Analytics Agent

Important

Complete the fresh installation of BMC AMI Ops User Interface 3.0 before performing the manual steps to migrate data and configurations from the old environment to the new.

The following table describes the manual migration steps for data and configurations for BMC AMI Ops User Interface and its subcomponents (BMC AMI Ops Monitor Server, BMC AMI Ops UI Server, and BMC AMI Ops UI Discovery Server) when upgrading from version 2.5 to 3.0:

Important

Make sure the same user account is used to perform both the installation and copying steps. Additionally, you must have the necessary permissions to copy from the source to the target.

Verify existing and new BMC AMI Ops User Interface tasks

Before you proceed with the components migration, make sure that the BMC AMI Ops User Interface started tasks are not running.

Copy BMC AMI Ops UI Server and BMC AMI Ops UI Discovery Server configuration files to the new environment

  • Copy configuration directory from oldRuntimeUssPath/config/ to newRuntimeUssPath/config/.
  • Copy custom properties opsappcustom.properties from oldRuntimeUssPath to newRuntimeUssPath.

Copy BMC AMI Ops Monitor component files to the new environment

  • Copy configuration directory from oldMonitorRuntimeUssPath/config/ to newMonitorRuntimeUssPath/config/.
  • Copy custom properties opsmonitorcustom.properties from oldRuntimeUss path to newRuntimeUssPath.
  • Copy custom properties discoverycustom.properties from oldRuntimeUssPath to newRuntimeUssPath.

Copy data set members

When copying the data sets, select the Replace Member checkbox.

If you're upgrading from a z/OSMF-installed environment, copy the data sets as follows:

  • Copy oldhlq.AUICNFG(AMIAPSEV)  to newhlq.AUICNFG(AMIAPSEV).
  • Copy oldhlq.AUICNFG(AMIDSCEV) to newhlq.AUICNFG(AMIDSCEV).
  • Copy oldhlq.UAUISAMP(AMICMNEV) to newhlq.UAUISAMP(AMICMNEV).
  • Copy oldhlq.AUISAMP(MUXMONEV) to newhlq.AUISAMP(MUXMONEV).

If you're upgrading from the Installation System-installed environment, copy the data sets as follows:

  • Copy oldhlq.BMCPCNFG(AMIAPSEV) to newhlq.AUICNFG(AMIAPSEV).
  • Copy oldhlq.BMCPCNFG (AMIDSCEV) to newhlq.AUICNFG(AMIDSCEV).
  • Copy oldhlq.UBBSAMP (AMICMNEV) to newhlq.UAUISAMP(AMICMNEV).
  • Copy oldhlq.BMCSAMP(MUXMONEV) to newhlq.AUISAMP (MUXMONEV).

Start new BMC AMI Ops User Interface tasks

After completing the previous steps, start the new BMC AMI Ops User Interface started tasks.

Post-migration verification

  • Verify that all components are running successfully in the new environment.
  • Check the logs for any errors during startup.

To upgrade BMC AMI Ops Analytics Datastore

Warning

Important

You can upgrade to version 3.0.00 of BMC AMI Ops Analytics Datastore only from version 2.5.01 and later.

When you upgrade to version 3.0.00, all the custom dashboards created in the earlier version by BMC on your request become unavailable, and an empty dashboard is displayed. Delete the empty dashboard and open a ticket with BMC support to modify the .dcfg file. BMC will update the custom dashboard and inform you, and then you can upload it again.

  1. From the Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) facility, download the BMCAMIOpsAnalyticsDatastore x.x.xx.tar image to the server where it has to be installed.
  2. Unzip BMCAMIOpsAnalyticsDatastore x.x.xx.tar.
  3. Navigate to BMCAMIOpsAnalyticsDatastore x.x.xx > /Disk1/InstData/NoVM/.
    The install.bin should have execute permission.
  4. Run ./install.bin.
    The BMC AMI Ops Analytics Datastore installation wizard opens.
  5. Review the introduction and then press Enter to continue.

    Introduction
    ------------

    InstallAnywhere will guide you through the upgrade of OpsAnalyticsDatastore
    version x.x.x.x to x.x.x.x.

    Respond to each prompt to proceed to the next step in the upgrade process.  If
    you want to change something on a previous step, type 'back'.

    You may cancel this upgrade at any time by typing 'quit'.

    PRESS <ENTER> TO CONTINUE:  
  6. Review the upgrade summary and then press Enter to continue.

    An example of upgrade summary is as follows:

  7. Press Enter to exit the installer.

To upgrade BMC AMI Ops Analytics Agent

  1. From the Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) facility, (download and unzip the BMCAMIOpsAnalyticsAgent x.x.xx.tar image to the server where it has to be installed.
  2. Unzip BMCAMIOpsAnalyticsAgent x.x.xx.tar.
  3. Navigate to BMCAMIOpsAnalyticsAgent x.x.xx > /Disk1/InstData/NoVM/.
    The install.bin should have execute permission.
  4. Run ./install.bin.
    The BMC AMI Ops Analytics Agent installation wizard opens.
  5. Review the introduction and then press Enter to continue.

    InstallAnywhere will guide you through the upgrade of OpsAnalyticsAgent
    version x.x.x.x to x.x.x.x.

    Use the following commands to stop, start or get the status of BMC AMI Ops Analytics Agent service

    Status:
    systemctl status BMC-AMI-OpsAnalyticsAgent.service

    Stop:
    systemctl stop BMC-AMI-OpsAnalyticsAgent.service

    Start:
    systemctl start BMC-AMI-OpsAnalyticsAgent.service
  7. Press Enter to exit the installer.
